ACT exercise
Values Checklist
Barry Florin — Psychotherapist
Before you begin
This exercise helps you find the values that matter most to you right now. There are no right or wrong answers — go with your first instinct rather than the answer that sounds best.
- 1Read each value and the sentence beneath it. The sentence describes how that value shows up in your life.
- 2Rate every one of the 58 values as “Very important”, “Important” or “Not important”.
- 3Be honest with yourself rather than aspirational. It is normal for several values to feel similar — choose the one that fits you best.
- 4When every value is rated, choose exactly five you marked “Very important”, then rank them from 1st to 5th — 1st being the value you would least like to give up.
- 5Check the five values you have chosen, complete the exercise, and download a copy as a PDF to keep or to bring to a session.
Your answers stay in this browser only — read the privacy notice. You can change any answer until you complete the exercise.
